About Me

Dr. Shellie Morris AO

Dr. Shellie Morris AO, renowned as one of Australia’s cherished female vocalists, has dedicated the last quarter-century to harnessing music as a powerful healing force. With a fervent belief in the significance of every individual’s voice, she was bestowed the honor of Officer of the Order of Australia on the King’s Birthday Honors, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the performing arts, Indigenous communities, and non-profit organizations.

While Dr. Morris has garnered well-deserved attention for her involvement with Black Arm Band, accolades like Deadly awards, ARIA nominations, Music Australia award, NAIDOC Award, G.R. Burarrawanga Memorial Award, and Australian of the Year award, her primary focus remains on the grassroots level, where she empowers and subtly instigates transformation.

Singing in more than 20 Aboriginal languages, many of which are considered ‘sleeping,’ Shellie crafts music that transcends boundaries. For over two decades, she has tirelessly championed the well-being of Indigenous Australians, particularly in the Northern Territory, since reconnecting with her Yanyuwa and Wardaman heritage.
